CHILDHELP

Rancho Santa Fe, CA April 2009
As the sounds of Childhelp Celebrity Ambassador John OHurley singing God Bless America filled the Senate Russell Caucus Room and the silence of Childhelp Celebrity Ambassador Jane Seymour lighting the four-wicked candle which represents the four children who die each day from Child Abuse and Neglect drew reflection, San Diegans Ray and Daran Grimm were overwhelmed with emotion. Supporters of Childhelp for nearly 25 years, the Grimms were the guests of honor at a special Day of Hope luncheon with Congressional leaders last year.

A host of senators attended the event, including Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and his wife, Jackie, Senate GOP Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) and his wife, Caryll, and Sens. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Lisa Murkowksi (R-Alaska) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) also attended.

Ray Grimm, Jr. and Jane SeymourThe Grimms were being honored by Childhelp Co-founders Sara OMeara & Yvonne Fedderson with its prestigious Day of Hope Corporate Award during Childhelps annual Day of Hope luncheon that was dedicated to their commitment to Childhelp for so many years. Ray has been on the California Board of Childhelp for many years and Daran has held many official roles in Childhelps San Diego Chapter and Southern California Auxiliary. They are instrumental throughout the years in helping Childhelp raise much-needed money including more than 2 million dollars to help build a new gymnasium at the Merv Griffin Residential Village in Beaumont, CA for the abused children that reside there.
